Goodbye Hummer, hello Shadow Hawk

Fans of stealthy SUVs will no doubt have felt a little tearful earlier this week following the announcement that GM's gas-guzzling Hummer is no more. But before we've had time to mourn Hummer’s departure from this increasingly cruel world (well, it took the Pontiac brand away from us, didn't it?) another US-based company has come along and unveiled not one but six amazing off-roaders that even Hummer lover Arnold Schwarzenegger would approve of.

Produced by Shadow Hawk – named after the comic book hero, which makes the marque even more amazing – these super terrain vehicles (STVs), referred to collectively as "The Hawks", come with similar equipment, and are only separated by the types of materials used in their construction and their purposes.
Take the Street Hawk, for example, a car that is described as the marque's "best on-road performing" vehicle, with a power output of 1,100 ponies helping it to achieve a 0-60mph of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 208mph. Since when did off-roaders go that fast?
And if that’s not enough for you, then perhaps the Batmobile-esque Desert Hawk, with its night-vision cameras, satellite phone and off-road lighting system, might whet your appetite? It certainly got us frothing at the mouth.
In terms of technologies available in all of The Hawks, owners can look forward to playing with daylight cameras, active suspension, driver-activated ride height control and 46-inch wheel travel.

  1. I'd like to offer my services as an unofficial test pilot and put this vehicle through the standards paces.
